CHINA

Wei Wan

Dr. Wei Wan, China Director

Dr. Wei Wan joined Clean Air Asia in 2012 and is now the China Program Director. She is responsible for the development and management of programs in China and coordination of China components of related Asian regional programs. She has served as a key project member for several international organizations, including the UN Environment Programme, the Asian Development Bank, and the World Bank.

She holds a PD degree in Environmental Science from the Peking University. Dr. Wan has participated in academic consortiums for interdisciplinary studies, including the AiR Pollution - Climate Change - Health Effects Nexus working group within the Global Atmosphere Watch Programme of the World Meteorological Organization, the Monsoon Asia Integrated Study for Sustainability-Future Earth, and the East Asian Association of Environmental and Resource Economics etc.

Dr. Wan has led in the development of a series of thematic reports on China’s progress in air quality management. She has also published research papers in high-profile journals and contributed to several popular science articles as a planner and editor.

Zhang Weihao

Weihao Zhang, China Air Quality Program Director

Weihao Zhang is the China Air Quality Program Director. Weihao is responsible for the management and implementation of air quality program in China and supports the implementation of air quality and climate change program of Clean Air Asia in other Asian countries. He holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

Nan Zhong, Environment Lead

Nan leads the planning and implementation of regional exchange and knowledge-sharing projects at Clean Air Asia, while supporting research, policy engagement, and partnership development on clean air and climate issues. She holds a Doctorate degree in Sustainable Development from Columbia University. Prior to joining Clean Air Asia, she served as an Assistant Professor, conducting research on environmental economics.

Si Wang, Environment Researcher

Si Wang supports the implementation of programs and projects of Clean Air Asia in China. She has a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Beijing.

Huihui Cheng, China Transport Program Director

Huihui leads the management and implementation of the transport program in China and supports the implementation of the transport program of Clean Air Asia in other Asian countries. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies with a Master’s degree in International Relations focusing on Energy, Resources, and Environment. She also holds a B.A. in International Politics from Tianjin Foreign Studies University.

Dongfei Xia, Transport lead

XIA Dongfei is responsible for the management and implementation of projects related to ports and vessels in China and supports the implementation of projects related to ports and vessels of Clean Air Asia in other Asian countries. XIA Dongfei has a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University and has over 5 years of consulting experience in energy and environment field of transportation and construction industries.

Yue

Yue Wang, Environment Lead

Yue leads and supports the development and implementation of China-based air quality projects through conducting research, preparing reports, and organizing workshops, conferences, and events. She also serves as the focal point for local NGO capacity-building. Yue has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Renmin University of China and a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University.

Jiaqi Zhang, Environment Researcher

Jiaqi is the Environmental Researcher (Industrial Air Pollution Control Specialization) with strong analytical skills, cross‑department coordination experience, and a solid understanding of industrial emissions management. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering from Nanjing University, specializing in industrial pollution regulation, environmental policy evaluation, causal inference, and machine‑learning applications in regulatory systems. She has published in peer‑reviewed journals such as the JEEM, and has presented at major international conferences including EAERE and AERE.

Zheng Ran, Senior Transport Researcher

Zheng Ran supports the implementation of the transport programs of Clean Air Asia in China. Her work focuses on advancing zero-emission freight transport, with expertise in road freight electrification, diesel truck emission reduction, and clean transportation for industrial sectors. Zheng Ran holds a master's degree in Environmental Engineering from Nankai University and a bachelor's degree in Water Supply and Drainage Engineering from Tianjin Chengjian University.

Wen Shao, Transport Researcher

Wen Shao supports the implementation of the transport program of Clean Air Asia in China. Wen has a master's degree in Traffic and Transportation Planning and Management from Beijing Jiaotong University. Prior to working with Clean Air Asia, Wen was the intelligent transportation solution engineer at the National Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles.

Julia

Julia Zhou, Branding and Operations Senior Officer

Julia supports compliance, flagship events, brand communication, and operational management at Clean Air Asia's China Office. She brings seven years of cross-sector experience and expertise in global procurement, compliance, and event execution. She holds a dual master's degree from Burgundy School of Business and a bachelor's degree in French Language from Sichuan University.

Yan Zhu, Communications Lead

Yan Zhu implements the communications strategy, and supports projects and campaigns of the Clean Air Asia China office. Yan ZHU worked with the top one energy media in China as Journalist for more than 6 years and gained rich experience in media and communications in the fields of environmental protection and energy sector. She also worked with Chongqing Daily for more than 3 years. Yan ZHU holds a master’s degree in Journalism from Southwest University.

Nancy

Danmei Zhao, Finance and HR Lead

Danmei serves as Finance and HR Lead at Clean Air Asia, supporting the China office in finance, human resources, and administrative operations. She brings cross-functional experience from multinational corporations including HSBC, GE Capital, Siemens, and BEA, with deep expertise in financial management, HR strategy, and risk control. Her background also includes start-up experience. Danmei holds master's degrees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University.

Xiao Xu, Administrative Assistant

Xiao studied human resources management at university and has more than six years’ work experience in administration and finance management in the real estate industry.
