Our Team

Bjarne is the Executive Director of Clean Air Asia. Bjarne has a broad international experience, particularly in environmental issues and sustainable development, with a proven track record of achieving meaningful impact through strategic leadership, resource mobilization and team building at all levels. He has taken CAA through continuous growth both regionally as well as in China and India including broadening the work of Clean Air Asia to include the Air, Climate and Public Health nexus. Bjarne holds a MSc in Environmental Studies from Strathclyde University, Scotland.

Glynda, alongside the Executive Director, leads the Clean Air Asia team, sets the organization’s strategic direction, and undertakes resource mobilization. Glynda is a lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience in air quality management. She was a member of the legal team which assisted the Philippine Government in drafting the Clean Air Act of 1999 Implementing Rules and Regulations. She led the implementation of the Asia Clean Fuels and Vehicles program which resulted in national policies and roadmaps for cleaner fuels and vehicles notably the Vietnam and Philippine regulations mandating Euro 4 vehicle emission and fuel standards, and Pakistan’s roadmap for cleaner fuels and vehicles. Glynda holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Ateneo de Manila University and University of San Francisco (joint program); and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines.

As Associate Program Director, Dang oversees program development and strategic planning for Clean Air Asia’s impact initiatives on transport, cities, energy, and air quality and climate change science. She worked with government, private, and non-profit organizations in the early years of her professional career, with more than 15 years of training and experience on environmental pollution chemistry and environmental management. Her career with Clean Air Asia started in 2014 when she led a team of international and regional experts in the development of the Guidance Framework for Better Air Quality in Asian Cities (Guidance Framework). The Guidance Framework is the core knowledge product of the Integrated Programme for Better Air Quality in Asia (IBAQ Programme), one of Clean Air Asia’s key projects. She currently leads programs focusing on capacity building for air quality management and climate change mitigation. These are achieved by providing policy guidance and direct technical assistance to governments on the development and implementation of clean air and climate action plans and sectoral measures. Dang holds a Master’s Degree in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management and a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s units in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines.

Ahn Meg Adonis leads the Sustainable Transport Program of Clean Air Asia. Meg supports the management, implementation, and coordination of projects of Clean Air Asia and provides required technical and administrative support to guide specialists and researchers to effectively implement projects. Her work focuses on the areas of clean fuels and vehicles, fuel economy, low-emission urban development, active transportation, green freight and logistics, and electric mobility. Meg has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas, and is currently taking her master’s in Sustainable Urban Mobility Transition, a program managed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) at Aalto University involvement in gender as part of Wedu, an organization investing in Asian women leadership for change.

Aimee works closely with the Deputy Executive Director as the overall lead for organizing the Better Air Quality (BAQ) conferences.

Aimee has an extensive experience in project and events management, marketing, and coordination with multi-stakeholders across various industries and sectors. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of the Philippines Baguio, Master's units in Environmental Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and a Digital Marketing Professional Program Certificate from Digital Marketing Institute and Learning Curve. 

As Air Quality and Climate Change Science Lead, Ever leads in keeping track of regional trends and developments relevant to air quality and climate change, including identification of emerging new areas of focus for Clean Air Asia’s impact initiatives. She leads a team of specialists and researchers in helping governments achieve air quality improvement and emission reduction targets through science-based policy and decision making that are institutionalized through Clean Air and Climate Action Plans. 

Everlyn has degrees in Biochemistry and Environmental Science from the University of the Philippines and trained with the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmosphere Watch and the European Research Course on Atmospheres. 

Precious oversees the implementation of a strategic plan for our work with cities with appropriate prioritization of work and services Clean Air Asia should offer, including ensuring internal programmatic alignment and ways to improve external integration of city work with national and regional work. Precious has a degree in Environmental Science from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Vincent Ullero provides technical expertise on urban planning and development, develops and implements projects, and delivers outputs of exceptional quality for Clean Air Asia’s programs and projects.

Vince is an Urban Planner specializing in geospatial and socioeconomic planning. With his vast experience in local government, he played various roles from planning to implementing poverty-alleviating evidence-based health and education programs, and advancing rural communities through climate-resilient agriculture infrastructure and enterprise development projects. He has a diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (URP) from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and is currently taking his Master of Arts in URP. 

Quang provides technical expertise to support the development, implementation, and review of Clean Air Asia’s projects on Air Quality and Climate Change. His work focuses on atmospheric pollution, air quality monitoring and assessment, source apportionment, transboundary transport, and the application of data-driven approaches to support evidence-based air quality management and policy development.

Quang was an intern at Clean Air Asia under the Pathways for Clean Air and Clean Energy project where he contributed to air quality and emissions analysis, dispersion modeling, data interpretation, and technical reporting across projects in Southeast Asia. He holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Republic of Korea. His research and professional experience spans Vietnam and other countries in Asia and the United States.

Dana Babela is a Sustainable Cities Specialist at Clean Air Asia with nearly a decade of experience in air quality, spanning scientific research and international development. Her work focuses on air quality management, climate mitigation, environmental policy, and regional capacity building, with expertise in translating science and evidence into practical policies, programs, and investments.

Her work increasingly focuses on regional air quality and climate action in Southeast Asia. She has contributed to initiatives including the AFD Air Quality Improvement Programme (AQIP) for ASEAN, the World Bank ASEAN Air Quality Management Framework Initiative, the Integrated Programme for Better Air Quality in Asia (IBAQ), and the CCAC Lower Mekong Regional Hub for Clean Air covering Thailand, Lao PDR, and Cambodia. She has worked with national and subnational governments across Asia on clean air policy, action planning, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and regional knowledge exchange.

At the city and country levels, Dana has contributed to emissions inventories, Clean Air Actions Plans (CAAP) and Air Quality Management Plans in the Philippines and other Asian countries, including La Trinidad, Quezon City and Manila City, as well as CAAP development roadmaps for Peshawar and Sialkot in Pakistan. She has also designed and facilitated regional workshops and consultations involving governments, development partners, technical experts, and civil society.

Dana holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Sustainability at the UP Open University.

Carlo Bontia provides technical expertise in the development, implementation, and review of energy and other heavy-polluting industries work of Clean Air Asia. He also provides technical and policy advice and input to help develop Clean Air Asia’s position on current and emerging air quality and climate change issues in the region, particularly governing energy use and production, energy structures, and a just transition to non-fossil fuel energy sources. Carlo has a degree in BS Geology and is currently completing his master's degree in environmental science.

Cris Beo is a chemical engineer with experience in environmental research. His work was focused on clean air technology and clean energy generation. His research involved emissions-related policies and other relevant information on the coal-fired power plants (CFPs) and industry sectors in Asian countries and the reduction of pollutant emissions through the use of the best available techniques and control technologies.

Jannell provides technical expertise to support project development, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the Air Quality and Climate Change program. Prior to joining Clean Air Asia, she contributed to shaping climate change policies in the agriculture sector, fostered collaboration with local and international partners for resource generation and mobilization, and conducted research in agricultural and food sciences.

Jannell holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and a Master of Science in Food Science from the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Ellaine Macalino coordinates Clean Air Asia's multiyear sustainable transportation project, leading the development of project plans and collaborating with partners and stakeholders in promoting GHG reduction in the transport sector using e-mobility solutions. Ellaine has extensive experience in environmental and social framework due diligence and implementation; environmental, health and safety audit and compliance; and environmental and social impact assessments and management. Ellaine holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Environmental Science at the University of the Philippines. 

Grench provides support in the design and implementation of programs, projects, and activities of a multi-year sustainable transportation project of Clean Air Asia. He also acts as the liaison officer within the DTI-BOI, facilitating communication and coordination with the Project Executing Agencies (DTI and BOI) and DTI-appointed principal project consultants on Incentives and Industry Strategy Development. Grench has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, 

Naressa provides technical expertise on sustainable transport, develop and implement projects, and deliver outputs of exceptional quality primarily under the Sustainable Transport of Clean Air Asia . Naressa holds an MSc on Complex Systems (Transport) at the University of Sydney, Australia, and completed her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines Cebu where she also taught data analysis, and algorithm design. She has extensive knowledge on quantitative modelling and computational simulation of large complex systems such as transport networks, ecosystems and smart cities. Her interests include network analysis and application of data for evidence-based transport planning.

Marion provides technical expertise on sustainable transport, develops and implements projects, and delivers outputs of exceptional quality primarily under the Sustainable Transport Program. Marion has a master’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of the Philippines. He worked with various government and non-government organizations on research about air quality communication, transport and mobility, climate and disaster risk reduction, and solid waste management.

Jason provides technical expertise on sustainable transport, develops and implements projects, and delivers outputs of exceptional quality primarily under the Sustainable Transport Program. Jason has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from De La Salle University. Prior to joining Clean Air Asia, Jason was as a Site Engineer for the Environmental Impact Assessment and Management Division (EIAMD) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB).

Mariel provides technical and coordination support for the Clean Air Asia’s TRANSCEND project. Based in Iloilo City, Mariel facilitates engagement between technical partners and local government units to develop inclusive, low-carbon transport solutions and the Living Lab pilot project. Prior to joining Clean Air Asia, Mariel worked with the DENR - Environmental Management Bureau Region VI, where she managed regional emissions inventories and conducted ambient air quality monitoring to support evidence-based air quality management policies within Western Visayas. Mariel’s professional expertise is complemented by international fellowships, including the YSEALI Professional Fellowship in the United States and the UNEP Regional Capacity Building Programme in Bangkok. Mariel is a licensed Chemical Engineer.

Rhoda provides technical and coordination support for the Clean Air Asia’s TRANSCEND project in Calapan City by facilitating engagement between technical partners and local government units to develop inclusive, low-carbon transport solutions and the Living Lab pilot project. Rhoda holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Communication (Major in Science Communication) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and a Master of Development Policy from KDI School of Public Policy and Management in South Korea. She has a vast experience in project management, communications, knowledge management, and stakeholder engagement, having worked across government agencies, academe, and the non-profit sector.

Patrick leads Clean Air Asia’s communications and marketing strategy. He has extensive experience in developing and implementing organizational communications strategies and plans, organizational brand building, digital campaigns including online fundraising, supporter engagement, and web/social media development, including content creation. He has completed an MSc in Global Challenges at the University of Edinburgh, which is a combination of Public Health Challenges, International Development and Environmental Studies.

Regina works with the Associate Director, Communications and Marketing on strategic communications planning, and leads the media engagement in the Philippines, specializing in community-driven communications. Regina holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, major in Journalism, and a master’s degree in Community Development at the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Julie Cariño supports the Communications team in creating various communication materials for Clean Air Asia's website, publications, and social media channels, as well as providing administrative support. Julie holds a bachelor's degree in Communication and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Development Communication.

Art leads the finance and administrative services team. He developed many of the Clean Air Asia’s operating procedures and is in charge of monitoring the organization’s financial budgets and financial reporting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has extensive knowledge on financial management, accounting functions, financial modeling, financial forecasting and feasibility analysis. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, major in Accounting from the Philippine School of Business Administration.

Jastin supports the FAS Manager in various functions in financial and project management, with a strong focus on compliance and project budget analysis. Jastin has more than 10 years of experience in financial management, compliance, and reporting. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Colegio de San Juan De Letran.

Shayla is a Certified Public Accountant. Shayla supports the FAS team in accounting and financial management. Shayla is passionate in applying her accounting expertise to support sustainable and impactful initiatives. She earned her Accountancy degree from the University of Santo Tomas.

Jovy provides comprehensive support to the office of the Executive Director, including proactive coordination with the senior management team. She also oversees the human resource management of Clean Air Asia and takes a lead role in organizing the BAQ conference, annual meetings and other events. Jovy’s previous employment in Dubai includes high-level executive management support, organizing international events and human resource management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, and currently completing her master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Sto. Tomas.

Cris has vast experience working in international non-governmental organizations in the field of finance and administration. Cris works closely with the FAS and program team leads in fundraising, contracts and financial management, resource allocation, procurement, compliance, and project implementation. Cris has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce major in Banking and Finance, from Holy Cross of Davao College.

Valerie provides support in the FAS and human resource administration of Clean Air Asia. In FAS, Valerie focuses on office administration, general procurement, office/HR/project regulatory compliance, and travel/event logistics. Valerie is an accounting graduate, with master’s degree in public administration. Prior to joining Clean Air Asia, Valerie provided administration support to BEAM-ARMM (Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), a project funded by the Australian government.

Mika supports the accounting and finance management, and general office administration. Mika has a strong work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Information System from Mapua University.
